The atmosphere in Dortmund was fenomenal, only a bit dampened by Leverkusen winning 3-2. We had seats in the middle of dortmundfans, so we too had hide our joy over Leverkusen's victory.”

In the 1980s and 1990s, Torino focused on rebuilding and staying competitive in Serie A. They reached the UEFA Cup final in 1991/92, losing to Ajax on away goals after a 2-2 aggregate draw. It was a bittersweet moment, highlighting the club’s ability to challenge on the European stage despite domestic struggles.
Financial problems began to plague Torino in the early 2000s, leading to relegation and instability. The club declared bankruptcy in 2005, but a reformed version, Torino FC, started from Serie B. Under new management, Torino regained stability and was promoted to Serie A in 2011/12.
Roma has taken a similar path in Italian football, although the club has not experienced any tragedy.
